Chess Prodigy Shubhi Gupta’s Journey to Success: A Promising Future Ahead
Chess prodigy Shubhi Gupta, hailing from Ghaziabad, recently showcased her exceptional talent at the Junior Chess Championships. Despite narrowly missing out on the bronze medal and finishing in fourth place, Shubhi gained 110 crucial rating points, signaling a significant step forward in her promising chess career.
Last year, Shubhi won the Women’s FIDE Master title and has achieved numerous accolades, including becoming the National U-19 Girls’ Champion and winning multiple medals with the India U-16 Girls team at the Asian Youth Chess Championship. Among her many achievements, she has also claimed the National U-12 Girls championship, a World Cadets Gold medal, and the Commonwealth Chess championship in 2022.
During the 2022 World Cadets championship, Shubhi displayed her resilience by winning six consecutive rounds despite battling a stomach infection. With the guidance of her coach, Prasenjit Dutta, she managed to secure the silver medal by focusing on her game despite her health issues.
In a virtual interview with Jagran English, Shubhi shared her journey in chess, starting at the age of 5 and her experiences participating in both offline and online chess tournaments. Despite facing challenges as a budding chess player in Ghaziabad, Shubhi remains determined to become a chess Grandmaster and qualify for the Chess Olympiad in the future.
As Indian chess continues to flourish, Shubhi looks up to players like D Gukesh and Arjun Erigaisi for inspiration and guidance in her chess career. With her talent and dedication, Shubhi Gupta is poised to make a mark in the world of chess and achieve great success in the years to come.
