Exciting Announcement: Madrid Chess Festival to Feature Top Content Creators Competing for Title Norms

The chess world is abuzz with excitement as the first-ever Madrid Chess Festival is set to take place next month in Spain. This major international event will feature some of the most popular content creators in the game competing for title norms, making it a must-watch for chess fans around the world.

Scheduled to run from June 10 to 15, the Madrid Chess Festival will include three classical tournaments and a blitz event, with a star-studded lineup of players. Among the participants are IM Levy Rozman, also known as GothamChess, and GM Pepe Cuenca, who are co-organizing the festival alongside IM David Martinez. The event will also feature popular streamers such as IM Eric Rosen and WFM Anna Cramling, who collectively have over 10 million followers on YouTube.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the participation of Argentine wonderkid FM Faustino Oro, who gained fame for defeating world number-one GM Magnus Carlsen in a recent online event. Faustino, known as “Fausti,” will be aiming for a grandmaster norm in one of the closed events, along with Rosen, Cuenca, and other top players from Spanish-speaking countries.

The open tournament will see 50 players, including Swedish WFM Anna Cramling, who recently reached one million subscribers on YouTube. The festival will conclude with a blitz tournament featuring the enigmatic Rey Enigma, who has a massive following of over five million fans.

IM Martinez expressed his hopes that the Madrid Chess Festival will help bring the Spanish capital back to the forefront of the chess world, following a decline in major tournaments in the city. The event will take place at Ajedrez con Cabeza and Canal Isabel II, with live coverage available on Chess.com/TV, Chess24’s Twitch channel, and YouTube.

Chess enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the start of the 2024 Madrid Chess Festival, which promises to be a thrilling and competitive showcase of talent from around the globe.
