Gukesh Dommaraju to Play at Norway Chess Tournament 2025

Gukesh Dommaraju, the youngest ever world chess champion, is set to make his debut at the prestigious Norway Chess tournament next year. The tournament organisers have confirmed his participation alongside former world champion Magnus Carlsen and Arjun Erigaisi. The event, scheduled to take place in Stavanger from May 26 to June 6, will also feature top players like Wei Yi.

Gukesh, who expressed his excitement about facing the strongest players in the world again, had previously competed in the Norway Chess 2023 event where he finished third. His partnership with trainer Grzegorz Gajewski has been instrumental in his success, leading him to win the Candidates and eventually become the youngest world champion in history.

The Norway Chess tournament is known for hosting elite players from around the world, with both open and women’s sections. Last year, the organisers introduced the women’s section with equal prize funds for men and women, making it a truly inclusive and competitive event.

With Gukesh’s participation adding to the excitement, the upcoming Norway Chess tournament is expected to be a thrilling and highly anticipated event. Stay tuned for more updates on the lineup and matchups as the tournament approaches.
