Turkish GM Ediz Gurel Claims Third Bullet Brawl Title

16-year-old Turkish GM Ediz Gurel emerged victorious in a thrilling battle at the latest Bullet Brawl tournament, adding a third title to his impressive collection. Gurel faced stiff competition from his compatriot, 13-year-old GM Yagiz Erdogmus, and the nine-time Bullet Brawl winner, GM Andrew Tang, in a high-octane two-hour chess showdown.

Gurel’s exceptional performance saw him finish with a score of 222, including a remarkable 23-game unbeaten streak. His $400 prize was well-earned, showcasing his skill and determination on the virtual chessboard.

Meanwhile, WCM Vesna Bogdanovic claimed the $100 best women’s prize, outscoring IM Polina Shuvalova. In the community event, Sundram Kumar emerged victorious with a score of 71.5/78.

The next edition of Bullet Brawl is set to kick off on Saturday, April 12, at noon ET/17:00 CEST, promising more intense chess action and fierce competition.

Despite the presence of seasoned GMs like Hikaru Nakamura, Daniel Naroditsky, and Andrew Tang, Gurel’s standout performance solidified his status as a rising star in the chess world.
