Hannah Green Clinches Victory at 2024 HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore

Australian golfer Hannah Green clinched a stunning victory at the 2024 HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, with a nerveless 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole to secure the win by a single shot over France’s Celine Boutier. Green, the 2019 Women’s PGA Championship winner, carded a five-under-par 67 for a third consecutive round at the Tanjong Course, finishing with a 12-under 276 total.

The 27-year-old Green, ranked world No.28, stormed into a tie with Boutier with two consecutive birdies on holes 16th and 17th, setting up the dramatic finish on the 18th hole. With a playoff looming, Green sunk a long birdie putt to claim her first LPGA win in Asia and her fourth LPGA title overall.

In a post-round interview, Green expressed her excitement and relief at the victory, stating, “I knew I needed to at least birdie the last to win by one. As soon as that putt went in, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve won!’ You have to take these highs when they come because it doesn’t always come and golf can be a learning sport sometimes.”

The HSBC Women’s World Championship featured an international field with representation from 22 countries, including Singapore’s own Chen Xingtong. Green’s victory marks a sweet redemption in Singapore after finishing second in 2021, and she expressed her joy at finally lifting the trophy in her hands.

With this thrilling victory, Green has solidified her status as a top contender in the world of women’s golf, and her performance at the tournament will surely be remembered as one of the most exciting moments in the history of the HSBC Women’s World Championship.
