Indian Chess Grandmaster Gukesh Dommaraju Dazzles Fans with Dance Moves to Rajinikanth’s ‘Manasilayo’

Gukesh Dommaraju, the young Indian chess prodigy, has once again captured the hearts of fans worldwide, but this time not with his strategic moves on the chessboard, but with his energetic dance moves on the dance floor. The 18-year-old grandmaster recently shared a lively video on social media, showcasing his dance skills to the hit song “Manasilayo,” featuring the legendary Rajinikanth.

In the video, Gukesh can be seen swapping his chessboard for the dance floor, clad in a traditional red kurta and stylish sunglasses, as he enthusiastically follows the catchy dance steps of the song alongside his family and friends. The charming display of Gukesh’s infectious spirit and joyous celebration has delighted fans and showcased his ability to not only excel in chess but also enjoy life’s victories off the board.

Gukesh’s recent accomplishments in the world of chess have solidified his place as one of India’s rising stars in the global chess arena. Recognized as the second-youngest grandmaster in history, Gukesh made history by winning the 2024 FIDE Candidates Tournament with an impressive score of 9 out of 14, becoming the youngest player ever to win the Candidates and set to be the youngest challenger for the championship at just 18 years old.

His journey in chess began at a young age, earning the grandmaster title at 12 years, 7 months, and 17 days, and reaching a live rating of 2700 by July 2022. Gukesh’s rise in the global rankings saw him become the top player in India by September 2023, ending a remarkable 37-year period during which GM Viswanathan Anand held the title as India’s highest-rated player.

The viral success of the song “Manasilayo” from Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie ‘Vettaiyan’ has added to Gukesh’s recent accomplishments, showcasing his versatility and charisma beyond the chessboard. As India celebrates its historic double gold win at the Chess Olympiad 2024, with Gukesh playing a crucial role in the men’s team’s victory, the young grandmaster continues to inspire and delight fans with his talent and spirit both in sports and in life.
