In a stunning display of skill and strategy, the Indian men’s chess team secured a resounding victory over Iran at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest. The team scored an impressive 3.5-0.5 points, further solidifying their claim for the gold medal in the open section.
The Indian men’s team, led by World number four Arjun Erigaisi, showcased their dominance on the chessboard by taking their tally to a perfect 16 points out of a possible 16. Arjun Erigaisi set the tone for the team’s success with a masterful performance against Bardiya Daneshwar, securing a crucial win with his black pieces.
Following Arjun’s lead, D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa continued the winning streak by outplaying their Iranian opponents. Gukesh’s victory over Parham Maghsoodloo and Praggnanandhaa’s draw with Amin Tabatabai ensured another impressive victory for the Indian team.
