In a stunning turn of events at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest, young Indian women players R Vaishali, Divya Deshmukh, and Vantika Agarwal shone brightly despite a shock defeat for D Harika on the top board. The Indian team secured a 3-1 victory over Switzerland, keeping them in joint lead with six match points.

Harika’s loss to former world women’s champion Alexandra Kosteniuk, who now represents Switzerland, was a setback for the team. However, Vaishali, Divya, and Vantika stepped up to the challenge with impressive victories in their respective matches.
