Ju Wenjun on Brink of Fifth Women’s World Chess Championship Crown

Ju Wenjun continues her dominance in the 2025 FIDE Women’s World Championship, claiming her fourth straight victory against Tan Zhongyi in game eight of the tournament. With a commanding 6-2 lead and just four games to go, Ju is on the cusp of securing her fifth Women’s World Championship crown.

In a game where Ju played with the white pieces, she gradually took control after a breakthrough move with 24…f5. With a winning position just five moves later, Ju showcased her prowess by sacrificing her bishop to transition into a clearly winning endgame.
