GM Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu has been knocked out of the world’s top 10 after suffering a defeat at the hands of GM Vincent Keymer in round four of the 2024 Biel Chess Festival Masters classical section. Keymer, who admitted to playing 1.e4 for the first time in nearly a decade, managed to secure a crucial victory over Praggnanandhaa, pushing him four points ahead in the tournament.

Meanwhile, GM Liem Le took over as the new leader by defeating GM Sam Shankland in another intense matchup. In the Challengers section, GM Saleh Salem emerged as the new leader after overcoming GM Ihor Samunenkov.
