Krupal Wanjari emerged victorious in the Jayhind 5th open rapid chess tournament in Nagpur, showcasing his skills and strategic prowess throughout the competition. In a thrilling final round, Krupal was held to a draw by Sahejveer Maras, but his impressive performance throughout the tournament secured him the top spot on the leaderboard based on a better tie-break score.

With four players tied for the top spot with seven points each, Krupal’s Buchholz tie-break score of 41 ultimately crowned him the champion. Shaunak Badole and Suhan Deshpande secured the second and third spots on the podium, respectively, while Sahejveer Maras narrowly missed out on the bronze medal by just half a point.

The final standings of the tournament were as follows: 1. Krupal Wanjari (7, 41), 2. Shaunak Badole (7, 39.5), 3. Suhan Deshpande (7, 38), 4. Sahejveer Maras (7, 37.5), 5. Shourya Ambone (6.5, 35).

In the final round, Sahejveer Maras drew with Krupal Wanjari, Shaunak Badole defeated YM Shamkuwar, Suhan Deshpande won against Pramod Dhamgaye, Sanjay Bhange drew with Pramod Ramteke, and Suryansh Mohariya lost to Shourya Ambone.
