Round-robin stage
The highly anticipated chess event featuring top players is set to kick off with an exciting round-robin stage. The event will be divided into two stages, with the first stage being a rapid time control round-robin format.
Players will face off against each other once, with the top 8 players advancing to the knockout stage. The remaining players will compete in placement matches to determine their final rankings. The schedule for the round-robin stage includes 6 rounds on Monday and 5 rounds on Tuesday.
The knockout stage will feature a classical time control format, with players ranked 1st through 4th having the opportunity to choose their opponents from players ranked 5th through 8th. The quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, the semifinals on Friday and Saturday, and the finals on Sunday and Monday.
In case of a tie in the knockout stage, a playoff system will be implemented, starting with rapid games and moving on to blitz games if necessary. If the tie persists, a bidding Armageddon game will determine the winner.
