Global Chess League Kicks Off in London

The highly anticipated second edition of the Global Chess League has officially begun in London, with six teams vying for the championship title. Organized by Tech Mahindra Global and in collaboration with the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the tournament is set to showcase some of the world’s top chess talent.

The event, taking place at Friends House in London from 3-12 October, features a unique format that promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats. The six teams will compete in a double round-robin format, with the top two teams facing off in a final match to determine the ultimate winner.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Global Chess League is the introduction of a new scoring system. Teams will earn match points based on the outcome of each game, with wins earning 3 points, draws earning 1 point, and losses earning 0 points. Additionally, players will earn game points based on the color of their pieces, with black wins earning 4 points and white wins earning 3 points.

With star players like Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand, and Hikaru Nakamura leading their respective teams, the competition is expected to be fierce and exciting. Fans can follow live games and commentary throughout the tournament to stay up-to-date on all the action.
