Long Beach Rummy Club: A Monthly Gathering of Friends and Fun at Panera Bread

Long Beach Rummy Club Connects Generations Over Friendly Competition

Once a month, the tables at a Long Beach Panera Bread just north of Cal State Long Beach swap the soups and sandwiches for cards, tiles, and Rummy Club members.

The multigenerational club occupies about half of the cafe’s dining room during their meet-up, engaging in friendly competition without keeping score. The Long Beach Rummy Club is all about connecting with others over a shared love for the game.

Founded by Drew Adams and Lauren Gabbaian, the club has grown significantly since its inception in April 2023. What started as a small gathering has now turned into a monthly event with over 30 friends coming together to play various rummy-style games.

Rummy, a game with a rich history that dates back centuries, has become a way for members to reminisce about their childhood memories of playing with family. For many, the club offers a sense of nostalgia and a chance to make new connections over something familiar.

At a recent meet-up, players engaged in games like Rummikub, a variation played with tiles instead of cards. The sound of tiles hitting the table and the friendly banter among players filled the room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Long Beach Rummy Club has become more than just a place to play games—it’s a community where friendships are formed, memories are made, and connections are strengthened. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, the club welcomes all who are looking to have fun and forge new relationships.

If you’re interested in joining the Long Beach Rummy Club, you can find more information on their Facebook page or Meetup page. Come join the fun and see why this club has become a beloved tradition for so many in the Long Beach community.
