Lufthansa and Meta Revolutionize Inflight Entertainment with Quest 3 Headsets
Last year’s FTE Global event, known as the “CES of Aviation,” saw a groundbreaking collaboration between Future Travel Experience, Meta, and Lufthansa. Attendees were given the exclusive opportunity to try out Meta’s Mixed Reality headsets and explore apps designed specifically for Lufthansa’s Business Class Allegris passengers. This experience was a game-changer, offering a glimpse into the future of inflight entertainment.
Meta introduced Travel Mode, a feature on Meta Quest that allows travelers to enjoy inflight entertainment in Mixed Reality. Following the success of the pilot program with Lufthansa, Meta is now rolling out Quest 3 headsets to passengers on select international routes. This fully integrated service transforms the inflight experience, offering passengers a range of immersive entertainment options.
Passengers can now enjoy virtual sightseeing, interactive games, meditation exercises, and more, all from the comfort of their Lufthansa Allegris Business Class Suite seat. The feedback from nearly 4,000 travelers who have already experienced the service has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the potential of immersive technology in inflight entertainment.
In addition to the immersive entertainment offerings, Lufthansa has partnered with CUPRA to introduce the first inflight test-drive app. Passengers can engage with the CUPRA Tavascan electric model, customizing their car and exploring virtual locations like Barcelona. This collaboration aims to create unique and emotionally engaging experiences for passengers.
The success of this initiative has not gone unnoticed, with Lufthansa, Meta, and developer MSM.digital receiving the 2025 APEX Award for Best Inflight Entertainment. This recognition underscores the innovative and effective nature of the new onboard service, setting a new standard for inflight entertainment.
