Urgent Recall: Kluster Magnet Chess Game Poses Serious Injury Risk to Children

Magnet Chess Game Recalled Over Serious Safety Concerns

March 17, 2026, 2:24 p.m. ET

In a significant safety alert, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Game due to a serious risk of injury or death from magnetic ingestion. The recall, initiated on March 12, affects approximately 151,600 units of the game, which has been found to violate mandatory toy safety standards.

The Kluster chess game, packaged in a sleek black box emblazoned with the word “Kluster,” contains high-powered magnets measuring between 0.5 to 1 inch wide and 0.3 to 0.4 inches high. These magnets can easily fit within the CPSC’s small parts cylinder, posing a significant ingestion hazard, particularly for young children.

According to the CPSC, if ingested, these magnets can attract each other within the digestive system, leading to severe complications such as intestinal perforations, twisting, blockage, blood poisoning, and even death. Fortunately, no injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with this recall.

The games were sold nationwide at independent game shops and online platforms including Klustermagnets.com, Amazon.com, and Etsy.com from October 2018 to September 2025, with prices ranging from $15 to $20. Each game includes approximately 24 magnets, an orange string, an instruction manual, and a black storage pouch featuring the “Kluster” branding.

What Should Consumers Do?

Stoney Games, the manufacturer, urges customers to immediately cease use of the recalled games and keep them away from children. Consumers are advised to contact the company for guidance on how to safely dispose of the magnets and to request replacement magnets that do not pose a choking hazard.

For further assistance, customers can reach Stoney Games at 800-362-0977, via email at klusterrecall@gmail.com, or visit their recall page at www.klustermagnets.com/recall.

As the recall unfolds, parents and guardians are reminded to remain vigilant about toy safety, especially with products containing small parts. The CPSC continues to emphasize the importance of adhering to safety standards to protect children from potential hazards.
