R Praggnanandhaa defeats Magnus Carlsen in Grand Chess Tour, China’s Wei Yi leads the pack

Indian chess prodigy R Praggnanandhaa continues to make waves in the chess world, securing another impressive win against world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen in the Superbet rapid and blitz chess tournament. The young talent’s victory left Carlsen reflecting on his performance, admitting that his nervous system collapsed after the intense match.

Despite Praggnanandhaa’s recent successes, China’s Wei Yi has emerged as the frontrunner in the tournament, dominating the competition with seven wins on the first day of blitz. With a commanding lead of 20.5 points, Yi is on track to clinch the title unless he faces a significant setback in the remaining rounds.

Carlsen, currently in second place with 18 points, will need to step up his game to challenge Yi for the top spot. Meanwhile, India’s Arjun Erigaisi and Poland’s Duda Jan-Krzysztof are also in contention for the title, holding the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

As the tournament enters its final day, fans can expect more thrilling matches and intense competition from the top players. Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of the Grand Chess Tour Superbet Rapid and Blitz in Warsaw.
