Magnus Carlsen Ties the Knot: Chess King Marries Ella Victoria Malone
The King of Chess, Magnus Carlsen, has officially tied the knot with his queen, Ella Victoria Malone, in a stunning ceremony in Oslo. The couple exchanged vows in the picturesque Holmenkollen Chapel before celebrating with family and friends at the luxurious Grand Hotel.
Guests at the wedding included Carlsen’s best men, FM Johannes Kvisla and Askild Bryn, as well as Guinness World Record holder, Chess.com’s Askild Bryn. Sports commentator Sverre Krogh Sundbo, GM Peter Heine Nielsen, GM Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen, and GM Jon Ludvig Hammer were also in attendance, making it a star-studded event.
Ella Victoria, a 26-year-old with a diverse background, has been a supportive presence at Carlsen’s chess events since their public debut at the Freestyle Chess G.O.A.T Challenge in 2024. She is expected to play a more prominent role in her husband’s career moving forward.
The wedding was not the end of the excitement for Carlsen, who recently claimed his eighth World Blitz Championship title in New York. Despite the fairy tale wedding, the couple is not heading for their honeymoon just yet, as Carlsen is gearing up for his debut with St. Pauli in the German Bundesliga.
Congratulations to the newlyweds, Magnus and Ella Victoria Carlsen, on their special day!
