Chess.com Announces Transition of Magnus Chess Academy to Silver Knights Chess Co-Founders

Chess.com, the popular online platform for chess enthusiasts, has announced a major agreement with the founders of Silver Knights Chess, Adam and Daniel Weissbarth. The deal involves the transition of Magnus Chess Academy to the Weissbarth brothers, who will rebrand the leading scholastic chess coaching provider in the U.S. under its former name.

The agreement, which will see Silver Knights Chess take over the operations of Magnus Chess Academy, aligns with Chess.com’s strategy to focus on its core digital offerings. Dmitri Shneider, Vice President of Global Operations at Chess.com, highlighted the strengths of both organizations in online and in-person chess coaching, stating that the deal will allow each to concentrate on their respective areas of expertise.

Silver Knights Chess, founded in 2006, has a long history of teaching chess to over 120,000 kids. The Weissbarth brothers will continue to lead the academy, ensuring that all student services, including the popular online program, will continue without interruption. The program has featured top grandmasters and former U.S. Champions, providing high-quality chess education to students.

Adam Weissbarth, a National Master with a USCF rating of 2255, expressed excitement about the future plans to grow the online program and host regular meetups for students at major tournaments. The Weissbarth brothers have always emphasized a fun approach to learning chess, a value shared by Magnus Carlsen, the former world champion who has had a positive impact on the academy.

As Silver Knights Chess transitions away from the Magnus Chess Academy name, the organization remains committed to inspiring a new generation of chess enthusiasts. With a focus on providing high-quality chess education both online and in-person, the Weissbarth brothers are poised to continue their mission of sharing their passion for the game with young learners across North America.
