Update on Fatal Shooting Involving San Antonio Police Department Officers

San Antonio Police Department Reveals Identities of Shooting Suspect and Officers Involved in Domestic Violence Call

In a tragic turn of events, the San Antonio Police Department has revealed the identities of the shooting suspect and officers involved in a domestic violence call that took place on Sunday, July 28. According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner Office, Jorge Jose Chacon-Gutierrez, 25, has been identified as the suspect involved in the fatal shootout.

The injured officer has been identified as Viviana Rodriguez, who has three years of service with the SAPD. The other officers involved were Officers Victoria Camacho (10 months of service) and Miguel Cardoza (2 years of service). Officer Rodriguez remains in the hospital for treatment to her injuries, while the other two officers have been placed on administrative leave.

The SAPD also made it clear in a release that they do not verify immigration status, as the investigation into the incident continues. Chacon-Gutierrez’s immigration status became a topic of discussion in conservative media after syndicated talk show host Joe Pags Pagliarulo shared information suggesting he was an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela.

The incident unfolded during a domestic violence call that quickly escalated into a shootout, leaving one officer with multiple gunshot wounds. Chief William McManus of the SAPD provided updates on the situation, revealing that the suspect opened fire on officers as soon as they entered the apartment where the incident took place.

The SWAT team later found the suspect dead in the apartment, with the circumstances of his death still under investigation. The woman involved in the domestic violence call was not seriously injured, and the officers involved are now awaiting further updates on the case.

This is a developing story, and more information will be provided as it becomes available. Stay tuned for updates on this tragic incident.
