Discover YouTube Playables: A New Way to Game on YouTube

Britons are known for spending countless hours on YouTube, watching everything from viral stunts to gadget reviews. But now, there’s a new way to procrastinate on the platform – playing video games.

Google has introduced YouTube Playables, a collection of around 75 games ranging from classic titles like Chess and Solitaire to popular mobile games like Angry Birds. These games can be accessed through YouTube’s mobile apps and website, making it easy for users to start gaming right away.

To play YouTube Playables, simply open the YouTube app on your iPhone or Android device and navigate to the ‘explore’ section. From there, select ‘playables’ to access a variety of games. If you’re using the web version of YouTube, click on the menu icon next to the logo and scroll down until you see Playables.

Once you’ve chosen a game, it will load quickly, allowing you to use touchscreen controls on mobile or your mouse/trackpad on computers to play. The games are designed to be played in short bursts, perfect for a quick gaming session on the go.

Some of the popular titles available on YouTube Playables include Angry Birds Showdown, Basketball FRVR: Dunk Shoot, and Cut the Rope. These games are built using standard web languages like HTML5, making them compatible with various devices and operating systems.

Google began testing YouTube Playables last summer, with some of the games originating from their GameSnacks project, a platform for fast-loading online games. This new feature adds another layer of entertainment to YouTube, giving users a fun and interactive way to pass the time on the platform.
