Discover YouTube Playables: A New Way to Game on YouTube
Britons are known for spending countless hours on YouTube, watching everything from viral stunts to gadget reviews. But now, there’s a new way to procrastinate on the platform – playing video games.
Google has introduced YouTube Playables, a collection of around 75 games ranging from classic titles like Chess and Solitaire to popular mobile games like Angry Birds. These games can be accessed through YouTube’s mobile apps and website, making it easy for users to start gaming right away.
To play YouTube Playables, users simply need to open the YouTube app on their iPhone or Android device, scroll down to the ‘explore’ section, and select ‘playables’ at the bottom of the list. From there, they can choose from a selection of popular games or browse the full list to find their favorite titles.
On the web, users can access the games by clicking the menu icon next to the YouTube logo and scrolling down until they see Playables. Once a game is selected, it only takes seconds to load, and players can use touchscreen controls on mobile or a mouse/trackpad on computers to play.
The games available on YouTube Playables range from arcade titles to puzzle games and endless runners. Some of the popular titles include Angry Birds Showdown, Basketball FRVR: Dunk Shoot, and Cut the Rope. These casual games are designed to be played in short bursts, without the need to download any additional software.
Google began testing YouTube Playables last summer, as part of their efforts to bring more gaming content to the platform. With the convenience of playing games directly on YouTube, users can now enjoy a new way to pass the time and have some fun while browsing their favorite videos.
