Severe Weather Update and Schedule Changes for Mississippi State University
Severe Weather Alert: MSU Monitors Dangerous Conditions
Mississippi State University is closely monitoring potentially dangerous weather conditions that are predicted to impact the Starkville and Meridian campuses this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for severe storms with damaging winds, tornadoes, and large hail in the northern two-thirds of Mississippi.
In response to these forecasts, MSU will provide an update on any impacts to this weekend’s baseball schedule by 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15. The university is urging students, faculty, and staff to exercise caution and good judgment when traveling in the local area as severe weather is expected across the state.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and NWS officials are predicting an increased risk of severe weather on Saturday, with the possibility of strong, long-track tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail. MSU is advising everyone to stay informed by monitoring the media, the university’s website, and official social media channels for updates.
Tonight’s MSU Baseball game has been rescheduled for a 4 p.m. start at Dudy Noble Field, with other sporting events throughout the weekend under consultation with SEC officials. The Chess Tournament on the Starkville campus has been canceled, and there are no events scheduled at the Riley Center at MSU-Meridian.
