Hikaru Nakamura Dominates Bullet Brawl Again, Wins Third Straight Title

GM Hikaru Nakamura continues his dominant run in the Chess.com Bullet Brawl, securing his third straight $400 first prize in the latest edition of the tournament. Facing off against a field of top bullet chess players, Nakamura notched an impressive 76 wins and three draws to finish with a score of 281.

Poland’s WGM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya emerged as the top-scoring women’s player, while North Macedonian player “Macmasterr” took first place in the community arena with 71 wins. The next Bullet Brawl is set to kick off on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at noon ET/18:00 CEST.

Nakamura’s dominance in the tournament is evident, with 24 titles, nine second-place finishes, and 33 appearances. He has consistently finished either first or second in every edition he has entered since the tournament’s inception in January 2023, showcasing his exceptional skills in bullet chess.

Despite suffering a loss to Nihal Sarin and later to Ediz Gurel, Nakamura’s performance was stellar, with mating nets and king hunts being the highlights of his games. Popular streamer GM Eric Hansen also provided live coverage of the event on the Chessbrah Twitch channel, adding to the excitement of the competition.

With only seven unique winners in the event’s history and no junior player clinching the top spot, the emergence of young talent like Andy Woodward raises the question of whether he can dethrone Nakamura in future editions of the Bullet Brawl. The future of bullet chess looks promising, with top players showcasing their skills in this thrilling arena format.
