In a bold assertion on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proclaimed that Iran’s ruling regime is on the brink of collapse, vowing that Israel will intensify its efforts to neutralize any nuclear or missile threats posed by Tehran. His remarks came during a ceremony marking the appointment of Major General Roman Gofman as the new head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.
Netanyahu’s comments reflect a growing concern over Iran’s influence in the region, particularly as diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran appear to stall. “This terror regime, which is destined to disappear from the world, will no longer threaten us with nuclear bombs and thousands of lethal ballistic missiles,” he stated emphatically.
The Israeli leader highlighted the significant setbacks Iran has faced recently, claiming, “The foundations of this terrorist regime in Iran have cracked. It will never return to what it was, and I tell you – it will fall in the end.” His remarks were underscored by a warning to adversaries: “Let anyone who plots evil against Israel know that their schemes will fail. The price they will pay will be heavy indeed.”
Netanyahu took the opportunity to commend the Mossad, Israel’s renowned intelligence agency, and expressed gratitude to outgoing chief David Barnea for his three decades of service, including five years at the helm. In his farewell address, Barnea echoed Netanyahu’s sentiments, urging continued efforts to weaken Iran’s regime. He described the Islamic Republic as being at its weakest point following recent conflicts and emphasized the need for Israel to “complete the job.”
“I believed, and I still believe, that a change in the reality in Iran by virtue of toppling the regime is a possible and achievable goal,” Barnea asserted, calling for persistence and long-term commitment to this mission.
