Telangana’s Nidhish Shyamal and Rajasthan’s Kiyanna Parihaar Win Titles at National U-9 Chess Championship

Telangana’s Nidhish Shyamal and Rajasthan’s Kiyanna Parihaar emerged victorious in the 37th National U-9 Chess Championship held in Pune. Shyamal clinched the open title by defeating Oishik Mondal of West Bengal, while Parihaar secured the girls’ title by outplaying Gujarat’s Ashwi Singh.

Shyamal, a Class 5 student who had previously won the U-7 National Chess Championship, showcased his skills by finishing his game in 63 moves. On the other hand, Parihaar, a Class 4 student who had previously won the title at the Asian Youth Championship in UAE, recorded her win in 66 moves.

Both champions walked away with a prize money of Rs 50,000 along with the winner’s trophy. The runners-up, Aarit Kapil and Divi Bijesh, also received trophies and Rs 36,000 each for their outstanding performances.

The championship witnessed intense competition with players from various states showcasing their talent. In the open category, players like Thavish S, Aarit Kapil, and Divith Reddy displayed exceptional skills. In the girls’ category, talents like Annanya Chinta, Vanshika Rawat, and Radhya Malhotra gave tough competition to each other.

Overall, the 37th National U-9 Chess Championship was a display of young talent and determination, with Shyamal and Parihaar emerging as deserving champions in their respective categories.
