Nodirbek Abdusattorov Climbs to 5th in FIDE Rankings: A Milestone for Uzbek Chess

Nodirbek Abdusattorov Climbs to New Heights in FIDE March Ratings

The chess world is abuzz with excitement following the release of the updated FIDE rating table for March, which has unveiled significant shifts among the elite players. Among the most remarkable developments is the rise of Uzbekistan’s Grandmaster Nodirbek Abdusattorov, who has made headlines by soaring into the top five of the global rankings.

In a stunning display of skill, Abdusattorov has gained 20 rating points, propelling him to 5th place with a new rating of 2771. This leap not only marks a personal milestone for the young grandmaster but also highlights his consistent and impressive performances in recent tournaments. His ascent by seven positions underscores the growing prominence of Uzbek chess on the world stage.

The current leader of the pack remains Norwegian superstar Magnus Carlsen, who continues to dominate with a rating of 2840. Following closely behind is American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura at 2810, while compatriot Fabiano Caruana holds the third spot with a rating of 2795.

The competition within the top ten has intensified, with Sergey Karyakin making a notable return to the elite ranks, now sitting at 10th place with a rating of 2750. Meanwhile, Indian prodigies Gukesh Dommaraju and Arjun Erigaisi have slipped out of the top ten, indicating a fierce battle for supremacy among the world’s best players.

In the updated rankings, German grandmaster Vincent Kaimer occupies the 4th position with a rating of 2776, just ahead of Abdusattorov. This narrow margin suggests that the Uzbek star has a realistic shot at climbing even higher in the coming months. French talent Alireza Firouja rounds out the top six with a rating of 2759.

The March FIDE ratings not only celebrate Abdusattorov’s remarkable achievement but also serve as a testament to the burgeoning potential of the Uzbek chess school. As fans rally behind their rising star, the question looms: can Nodirbek maintain this momentum and continue his ascent in the world rankings?
