Recall Alert: Outad Good Life Magnetic Battle Chess Game with Hazardous Magnets

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall for the 1 Set Puzzle Magnetic Battle Chess Game due to safety concerns. The magnetic chess game, which includes 20 magnet pieces, violates federal toy magnet regulations as the magnets are stronger than permitted and can pose a serious health hazard if swallowed.

When high-powered magnets are ingested, they can attract to each other or another metal object in the digestive system, leading to perforations, twisting, blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, and even death. The recall was initiated on June 13, 2024, and affects magnetic chess games sold under the names “Magnetic”, “Magnetism”, or “Magnetism Intelligence Strategy Game”.

The games are packaged in a blue box with the aforementioned names on the front and contain loose, small, spherical magnets with a strong magnetic flux. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled chess games immediately, keep them away from children, and contact Outad Good Life for instructions on how to receive a full refund.

Although no incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall, the CPSC estimates that there have been 2,400 magnet ingestions treated in hospital emergency departments from 2017 through 2021. The recalled magnetic chess games were sold exclusively online at Temu.com from December 2023 through February 2024 for approximately $8.

Consumers can visit their Temu account to initiate the refund process or contact Outad Good Life directly for further assistance. It is crucial to address this recall promptly to prevent any potential harm to children or individuals who may come in contact with the hazardous magnets.
