2024 US Chess Federation Annual Award Recipients
The US Chess Federation has announced the recipients of the 2024 Annual Awards, celebrating individuals and organizations who are dedicated to advancing the mission of empowering people, enriching lives, and enhancing communities through chess.
Among the distinguished recipients are James Rachels and Carol Meyer, who have been honored with the Distinguished Service Award for their outstanding contributions to the chess community. Additionally, FA/IO Luis A. Salinas has been recognized with the Outstanding Career Achievement Award for his exceptional accomplishments in the field.
Ernest Nix, Jim Hollingsworth, Christina Schweiss, Kalanithi Bagley, Robin Ramson, and IA Andre Harding have all received the Meritorious Services Award for their commitment to promoting chess and making a positive impact.
Other notable awardees include ICCF GM Jon Edwards, Andrew M. “Andy” Ansel, CM Jude Acers, IA/IO Anand Dommalapati, GM Hikaru Nakamura, GM Fabiano Caruana, WGM/IM Carissa Yip, IM Igor Foygel, FM Frank Thornally, IM Elliott Winslow, and the 2023 U.S. Senior Team, among others.
The awards also recognize individuals such as WGM/IM Alice Lee, IA/IO Alan Losoff, Jeff L. Smith, IA Maya Myers, Craig Timmons, and organizations like the Charleston Chess Club and the University of Missouri, Columbia for their outstanding contributions to the chess community.
