The 2024 World School Chess Championships are set to take place in Lima, Peru from April 30 to May 10, 2024. The tournament, organized by FIDE and the Peruvian Chess Sports Federation, will feature 12 sections for both boys and girls across different age categories.

Players as young as those born on or after January 1, 2017, are eligible to participate in the Under 7 category, while older players born on or after January 1, 2007, can compete in the Under 17 category. Direct titles will be awarded according to FIDE regulations, and the event regulations can be found on the FIDE website.

Each event will consist of nine rounds with a time control of Game/90 minutes and a 30-second increment. Accommodation for participants will be provided at the Hotel Melia Lima, with options for single, double, or triple rooms available.

Registration for USA players is open until March 24, 2024, with fees including a tournament registration fee, FIDE entry fee, and administrative fees. All participants must have a current US Chess membership and a USA-flagged FIDE ID.

Participants will be required to sign a waiver for participation, and are advised to check the USA State Department’s Travel Advisory website for the latest information on traveling to Peru. For any inquiries about the event, players can contact Brian Yang, US Chess FIDE Events Manager.
