XXXV Pan-American Youth Chess Festival Announced for July 27-August 3 in Lima, Peru

The Confederation of Chess for Americas (CCA) and the Peruvian Sports Chess Federation have announced the XXXV Pan-American Youth Chess Festival, set to take place from July 27 to August 3 at the Callao Regional Sports Village in Lima, Peru. This exciting event will feature 12 sections, including Open and Girls categories for each age group: Under 18, Under 16, Under 14, Under 12, Under 10, and Under 8.

Participants must meet age eligibility requirements based on their birth year, with the youngest category being Under 8 for players born on or after January 1, 2017. The tournament will follow a 9-round Swiss system format with a time control of Game/90 minutes and a 30-second increment from move one. Direct titles will be awarded according to FIDE regulations.

Accommodation for all participants will be provided at the Sheraton hotel, with rates varying based on room type and occupancy. Additionally, US Chess is offering virtual coaching services for players who opt-in for an additional fee.

Registration for USA players is open until June 27, 2025, with various fees required for participation. Official Representatives and Personal Rights Players have already been selected based on their performance in previous tournaments, receiving travel stipends and other benefits.
