US Chess Launches Working Group to Revamp Chess Coach Certification Program
US Chess has announced the formation of a dedicated working group aimed at revitalizing the Chess Coach Certification program. The organization is seeking passionate individuals who are eager to enhance coaching standards and elevate the quality of chess education.
The primary goal of this working group is to establish clear and comprehensive criteria for achieving certification as a chess coach. By leveraging the expertise of experienced coaches and industry professionals, US Chess aims to create a structured framework that defines different levels of coaching proficiency. Through collaborative efforts, the group hopes to develop a rigorous yet accessible certification process that maintains the highest standards of professionalism and competence in chess coaching for players of all ages and skill levels.
The working group will be led by an Executive Board member and will require participants to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure confidentiality. US Chess plans to issue a public Request For Proposals (RFP) to solicit proposals from organizations interested in becoming designated certifying organizations. Members of the working group will be prohibited from competing to become a certifying organization.
Experienced chess coaches interested in participating in this initiative are encouraged to apply. Prospective working group members should have completed SafePlay training to promote a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
If you are interested in joining the working group, you can complete the application by clicking on the following link: https://new.uschess.org/news/call-working-group-chess-coach-certification-program. Participants should be prepared to dedicate two evenings per month to meetings starting in June 2024.
US Chess is excited to embark on this journey to redefine excellence in chess coaching and invites individuals to shape the future of coaching together.
