The tournament is set to kick off on March 28, with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the opening match in Bengaluru.

Sharma, who last donned the blue jersey in a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, has been in fine form, consistently scoring runs for India. Having stepped away from Test and T20 formats, he is now fully focused on ODIs while continuing to represent the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

The Mumbai Indians will launch their 2026 campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, a match that promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The first group of players to arrive for training included Shardul Thakur, Mayank Markande, and several promising newcomers. The session began with a structured fitness and conditioning block, where players engaged in movement drills, agility work, and fitness assessments.

As preparations ramp up, the remainder of the squad is expected to join the camp in the coming days, intensifying the build-up to the tournament.
