Salem Abdul Rahman, a national team and Sharjah Club player, has enhanced his chances in the Sharjah International Chess Championship after achieving an important victory in the eighth round of the Masters competition. Rahman defeated his Czech competitor, Engwin Tai, in an exciting match, solidifying his position in the tournament.

The tournament, organized by the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club under the patronage of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has attracted top players from around the world. The event was opened by Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs, and has been closely watched by chess enthusiasts.

In the Masters category, Iranian Daneshvar Pradia, American Sam Shackland, and Russian Morzin Volodar currently lead with 6 points each.
