Exciting Action at the U.S. Open: Top Players Tied for First After Five Rounds!

The U.S. Open Chess Tournament is heating up as no perfect scores remain in the traditional nine-day schedule. Five players are tied for first with 4½/5, including the top-rated Julian Proleiko. Last night, Proleiko played a wild “three-result” game against Matthew Diao, adding to the excitement of the tournament.

In the six-day schedule, players double-up their rounds on Wednesday and Thursday, with yesterday’s games showcasing tactical brilliance from the top boards. The tournament has attracted top players, including grandmasters, invitational champions, and the U.S. Cadet champion.

Today marks the second double-round day for the six-day schedule, with participants also playing two games on Friday. The four-day schedule begins today, featuring big names like GM Awonder Liang and GM Varuzhan Akobian.

Julian Proleiko recently won the U.S. National Game/15 Championship, further solidifying his position as a top contender in the U.S. Open. Committee meetings are ongoing, with various sessions scheduled for today.
