Retribution for Past Killing: Tamba Momodu Gunned Down in Telford

A shocking and tragic incident unfolded outside The Fitness Factory at Bridges Business Park in Horsehay, Telford on October 13, 2020, when 20-year-old Tamba Momodu, also known as Teerose, was mercilessly gunned down in cold blood. The jury at Stafford Crown Court heard that this act of retribution was allegedly in response to Mr. Momodu’s acquittal for the killing of Abdullahi Tarabi in Northolt, London in 2017.

The prosecution described how a plan was devised to murder Mr. Momodu, with the fatal shot being fired through the window of his friend’s car as they arrived at the gym. The murder weapon, a 9mm Luger pistol, caused fatal injuries to Mr. Momodu’s heart and lung, leaving him with no chance of survival.

The trial revealed a series of trips made by the defendants from London to Telford, where they allegedly conducted reconnaissance of Mr. Momodu’s home and the murder scene. Phone records and ANPR cameras were used to track their movements, linking them to the locations involved in the crime.

The court also heard how an article in a Welsh newspaper about Mr. Momodu’s criminal history may have sparked the defendants’ interest in seeking revenge. Mr. Momodu’s release from custody and subsequent social media post may have further fueled their intentions.

Four men, including Mahamud Tarabi and Ahmed Karshe, are standing trial for Mr. Momodu’s murder, with one defendant pleading guilty to arson related to the case. The trial continues as the prosecution presents evidence linking the defendants to the crime scene and the events leading up to the tragic incident.
