WEISSENHAUS Young Masters: A Test of Endurance and Opportunity for Talented Players

The WEISSENHAUS Academy is set to host the “WEISSENHAUS Young Masters” tournament from 14 to 18 October, where four talented young players will face off against five established grandmasters in a test of endurance and skill. Among the participants are Marius Deuer, Leonardo Costa, Hussain Besou, and Christian Glöckler, who will be competing against top players like Pavel Eljanov, a former number six in the world.

The tournament is part of the WEISSENHAUS Chess Academy’s development program, aimed at nurturing the next generation of German chess talent. Deuer and Costa, both 16, are aiming for the Grandmaster norm, while Besou and Glöckler, both 13, hope to achieve an IM-norm in the competition.

The field is strong, with top players like Eljanov, P. Sethuraman, Christian Bauer, Sune Berg Hansen, and Kaido Kualots participating in the tournament. IM Benedict Krause will also be competing, using the event as preparation for the upcoming Bundesliga season.

The pairings for the nine rounds have already been determined, with games being streamed live on ChessBase. The tournament promises to be an exciting opportunity for the young players to test their skills against experienced opponents.

Jan Henric Buettner, sponsor of the Chess Academy, is looking forward to seeing the young talents in action and has invited the German national team to witness the competition. Buettner himself is eager to see how the young players will perform against the established grandmasters.

Overall, the “WEISSENHAUS Young Masters” tournament is shaping up to be a thrilling event, showcasing the talent and potential of the next generation of German chess players.
