Cronos: The New Dawn – A Third-Person Survival Horror Game with Chess Match Praise

Bloober Team, the developers behind the highly praised Silent Hill 2 remake, have unveiled their latest project at the Xbox Partner Preview event – Cronos: The New Dawn. This third-person survival horror game has caught the attention of gamers and chess enthusiasts alike with its unique trailer.

The trailer for Cronos features a mysterious protagonist navigating a world that blends Eastern European brutalism with retro-futurist technology. Amongst the action-packed scenes of shooting monsters and exploring eerie environments, there is a surprising moment where a chess match takes center stage.

Chess nerds have been quick to praise the accuracy and authenticity of the chess match depicted in the trailer. Josh Sawyer, director of Fallout New Vegas, took to Twitter to commend Bloober Team for their attention to detail in showcasing the game of chess.

The game’s premise is equally intriguing, with players taking on the role of a Traveler working for the enigmatic Collective. Tasked with traversing time rifts to 1980s-era Poland, players must extract the Essences of key individuals from the past to accompany them into the future.

Cronos: The New Dawn promises a gripping experience with gameplay that shifts between the past and future, offering a blend of tactical thinking and reflex-based challenges. Fans of survival horror and atmospheric storytelling are sure to be captivated by the game’s unique setting and gameplay mechanics.

In addition to Cronos, the Xbox Partner Preview event also showcased other exciting titles such as Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii and Subnautica 2. With a diverse lineup of games on the horizon, gamers have plenty to look forward to in the coming year.
