D Gukesh, the young chess prodigy from Chennai, has had a phenomenal year in 2024. With a peak FIDE rating of 2794, Gukesh made history by winning the Candidates Tournament and the World Chess Championship. He also led the Indian team to victory in the 45th Chess Olympiad, securing both team and individual gold medals.
