Top Icon Players for Global Chess League Season 2 Include Carlsen, Anand, and Nakamura

Global Chess League Season 2 Icon Players Announced for London Event

The Global Chess League has announced the list of Icon players for its upcoming second season, set to take place in London from October 3 to 12 at the Friends House. The league, a joint venture between Tech Mahindra and the International Chess Federation (FIDE), promises to bring together some of the best chess players from around the world.

Among the Icon players announced for the second season are world number one and five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen, who will continue to play for Alpine SG Piper. Joining him are new Icon players Hikaru Nakamura, who will play for the American Gambits, and Anish Giri, who will represent PBG Alaskan Knights.

Other returning Icon players include Viswanathan Anand for Ganges Grandmasters, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave for Mumba Masters, and Ian Nepomniachtchi for Triveni Continental Kings. The league will feature a minimum of three marquee showdowns every day between the Icon players as they lead their teams into the chess arena.

With a total of six teams, each consisting of six players including one Icon player, two superstar male players, two superstar female players, and one prodigy player, the Global Chess League promises to offer an exciting and competitive platform for chess fans around the world.
