Exciting Events Coming Up in Marblehead

Marblehead residents and visitors have a lot to look forward to in the coming days with a variety of events happening around town. From shopping sprees to ghost hunts, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

On Saturday, September 14, the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Sidewalk Sales throughout the town. Residents and visitors can take advantage of sales and discounts at Marblehead’s boutiques and eateries all day long.

For those looking for a spooky adventure, Boston Paranormal Investigations will be leading a ghost hunt at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion on the same day at 8 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to use special tools to communicate with ghosts and uncover the mysteries of one of Marblehead’s most historic structures.

On Friday, September 13, the Marblehead Arts Association will be hosting an evening of comedy, food, and a silent auction to raise money for their exhibits, performances, and programming. Improv troupe Accidentally on Purpose will be performing at 8 Hooper St. Tickets are $55 for MAA members and $65 for non-members.

The following day, the Marblehead VFW will be holding fundraisers for Company 2 Heroes, a nonprofit that trains service dogs for veterans. The events include a 5K walk, run, or ruck during the day with a participation fee of $35, and a concert by the Guy Ford Band in the evening with free admission and donations accepted.

Children interested in learning chess strategies can attend a free class with Charles Gilligan at Abbot Library on Tuesday, September 17. Chess boards and pieces will be provided, and the class is open to beginner through intermediate players.

Car enthusiasts can head to the VFW on September 19 for an antique car show from 5 p.m. until dusk. The event is free and open to all.

Lastly, tickets are now available for Marblehead Little Theatre’s production of “The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui” by Bertolt Brecht, running from September 27 to October 13. Directed by Greg Mancusi-Ungaro of Marblehead, the play is a dark commentary on the dangers of unchecked power.
