Trisha, Krisha, and Tvesha Sweep MSSA Inter-School Chess Tournament

Trisha Jagtap, Krisha Jain, and Tvesha Jain showcased their exceptional chess skills at the MSSA inter-school chess tournament held at St Sebastian High School in Chembur. In a remarkable display of talent, Trisha dominated the U-16 girls section with seven consecutive wins, while Krisha and Tvesha secured victory in the U-12 and U-10 girls categories respectively, winning all nine rounds.

Tvesha Jain, a rising chess prodigy, has already made a name for herself by being ranked No. 1 in Maharashtra and third in India in the U-9 category. With over 100 tournament wins under her belt, Tvesha’s strategic gameplay and impressive moves led her to triumph over Thea Wagle in the final round. Reflecting on her winning strategy, Tvesha shared, “The game opened with Thea making the D4 move, and I responded with D5, entering the Queen’s Gambit structure. As the mid-game unfolded, I launched a strong kingside attack, focusing on rapid piece development.”

The tournament was highly competitive, with Tvesha facing tough opponents in each round. Despite the challenges, she managed to maintain her winning streak and emerge victorious. Nitya Bang and Girisha Pai secured second and third place respectively in the U-10 girls category.

In the U-16 girls section, Janhavi Gadade claimed the runner-up position, followed by Maanvi Chaudhri in third place. Similarly, in the U-12 girls category, Mahua Deshpande finished second, with Hiranmayee Kulkarni taking third place.

The MSSA inter-school chess tournament witnessed an impressive display of talent and sportsmanship, with Trisha, Krisha, and Tvesha emerging as deserving champions in their respective categories. Their dedication and strategic prowess have undoubtedly set them apart as rising stars in the world of chess.
