GMs Dmitry Andreikin and Hikaru Nakamura Dominate Titled Tuesday Victories

GMs Dmitry Andreikin and Hikaru Nakamura emerged as the victors in the Titled Tuesday tournament on November 5, marking the second consecutive week where both winners scored a perfect 10 points without needing tiebreaks. In the early tournament, Andreikin claimed the top spot after a fierce battle that saw a ten-way tie for second place. Nakamura, on the other hand, dominated the late tournament, never relinquishing his hold on first place throughout the event.

The early tournament saw a resurgence in participation, with 755 players competing for the doubled prize fund. GM Benjamin Bok initially held the lead with a perfect 7/7 score but faltered in the final rounds, allowing Andreikin to secure victory. In the late tournament, Nakamura faced stiff competition from players like Fabiano Caruana and Jan-Krzysztof Duda but ultimately emerged victorious after a strong performance.

With his win, Andreikin claimed the $2,000 first-place prize in the early tournament, while Nakamura took home $1,000 for his late tournament victory. The Titled Cup standings also saw Nakamura gaining ground on Magnus Carlsen, while Alexandra Kosteniuk moved into second place in the women’s standings.

Overall, the Titled Tuesday tournaments showcased the exceptional skill and competitive spirit of top chess players, providing fans with thrilling matches and exciting outcomes.
