Announcement: Interim Dean Appointment in the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences

On November 8, 2024, Purdue University Northwest announced that Dr. Michael Lynn will serve as the Interim Dean in the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences (CHESS). This appointment comes after the resignation of Dr. Anne Gregory on October 25, 2024.

Dr. Lynn, who is currently a faculty member at Purdue Northwest, has accepted the position and will lead the college while the search for a permanent Dean is underway. The CHESS Dean Search Committee, chaired by College of Nursing Dean Dr. Amy Fry, is being formed and will include representatives from each department within the college.

The search for the permanent Dean is expected to be finalized by the end of the semester, with campus interviews for finalists scheduled for early in the Spring 2025 semester. The new Dean is anticipated to start in the summer of 2025.

In addition to the CHESS Dean search, Purdue Northwest is also actively seeking nominations and applications for the Dean of the College of Engineering and Sciences (CES). The deadline for full consideration for this position is December 2, and the search committee is working diligently to find the right candidate.

Dean Bruce Berdanier will continue to serve as CES Dean until the new Dean is appointed. Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Marie T. Mora, will provide updates on both searches as they progress.

Overall, these developments mark an exciting time for Purdue Northwest as they work to fill key leadership positions within the university.
