US Chess.org Announces Teams for 2024 Olympiad

Team USA Players, Captains, and Trainers for the 2024 FIDE Chess Olympiad

The 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad is set to take place from September 10 through 23 in Budapest, Hungary, and Team USA is gearing up to make a strong showing. After finishing tied-fourth in the Open and tied-third in the Women’s section in the previous Olympiad held in Chennai, India, the team is looking to improve their performance.

The official players for the 2024 Olympiad Team USA Open include GMs Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, Leinier Dominguez, Levon Aronian, and Ray Robson. Robson will be replacing GM Sam Shankland in this year’s lineup. The team will be led by Captain IM John Donaldson and Trainer GM Mikhail Antipov.

On the Women’s side, the team will consist of GM Irina Krush, IM Carissa Yip, IM Alice Lee, WGM Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova, and IM Anna Zatonskih. Lee will be stepping in for WGM Tatev Abrahamyan. The Women’s team will be under the guidance of Captain GM Melikset Khachiyan and Trainer GM Alexander Onischuk.
