Events Manager Position Overview and Qualifications

The US Chess organization is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Events Manager to join their team in St. Louis, MO. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $55,000 per year and the opportunity to work both remotely and on-site at national events.

As the Events Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of National Events for US Chess. This includes overseeing team room reservations, scouting potential event host sites, negotiating contracts, hiring staff, and serving as the primary contact for vendors and sponsors. You will also work closely with US Chess committees, cultivate sponsorships, and organize and attend national events.

In addition to event management, the Events Manager will be responsible for building and updating tournament websites, providing guidance on tournament organization, and serving in an advisory capacity on event-related policies. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a strong knowledge of chess rules and regulations, and at least 2 years of experience organizing and directing chess tournaments.
