Mumbai Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Expected to Continue with Red Alert Warning
Mumbai Braces for More Heavy Rainfall as IMD Extends Orange Alert
Mumbai, India’s financial capital, has been battling extreme weather conditions for the past forty-eight hours, with heavy rainfall causing chaos in the urban area. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended the orange alert for heavy rainfall in Mumbai for today, warning residents to prepare for another day of intense downpours.
The city experienced intense rainfall on Wednesday, which continued into early yesterday before finally easing up. However, overcast skies greeted Mumbai residents this morning, indicating that more rain is on the way. The IMD has predicted very intense rainfall in South and Central Mumbai, with many suburbs also expected to experience heavy rains starting at 10 am. The heavy rainfall is anticipated to continue until the afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 31°C.
The weather outlook for Mumbai until October 2nd suggests that the city will continue to face rainy weather. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 23°C and 31°C, with overcast skies and moderate rainfall. The trend is set to continue through the weekend, with slightly higher temperatures of 24°C to 25°C.
The IMD has issued a red alert for Nashik and an orange alert for Palghar, Pune, Nandurbar, and Dhule in Maharashtra. Almost every other city in the state has been placed under a yellow alert for today, September 27th.
The heavy rainfall in Mumbai has already caused disruptions, with flooded streets and traffic congestion. The Mumbai local train network experienced temporary delays but has since resumed regular operations. Massive traffic jams were observed on Wednesday on major routes due to water accumulation, making travel challenging for residents.
As Mumbai continues to battle the heavy rainfall, residents are advised to stay indoors and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period of extreme weather.
