Webster University has made history by winning its seventh President’s Cup, solidifying its position as the most successful school in the competition’s history. The 2025 President’s Cup, hosted by The University of Texas at Dallas, featured intense competition between Webster University, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Saint Louis University, and UTD.

After two rounds of intense chess matches, Webster and UTRGV finished tied at the top of the standings with 7 game points each. The President’s Cup is determined by game points, and when teams are tied, match wins become the next tiebreaker. Webster won two matches and tied one, securing them the possession of the Cup.

This victory marks Webster’s seventh President’s Cup win, surpassing the previous record held by the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The competition was fierce, with teams showcasing their strategic prowess and determination to come out on top.

The closing ceremony was a fitting end to the intense competition, with President Benson handing out the trophies to the deserving winners.
