Social Media Reacts to R Praggnanandhaa’s Victory Over Magnus Carlsen: Anand Mahindra Congratulates Chess Prodigy

Indian chess prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa made headlines once again after defeating Magnus Carlsen, the reigning five-time world chess champion, in the second round of the Superbet rapid and blitz chess tournament. The victory sparked a flurry of reactions on various social media platforms, with individuals from all walks of life congratulating the young grandmaster on his remarkable win.

Among those who extended their congratulations was industrialist Anand Mahindra, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his admiration for Praggnanandhaa’s achievement. Mahindra suggested that it was time to “brag about Pragg” and even hinted at the possibility of rewarding the chess prodigy with vehicles from the Mahindra lineup, such as the XUV400 and X700.

Despite the loss to Praggnanandhaa, Magnus Carlsen went on to win the tournament, with the Indian grandmaster finishing in fourth position. This victory adds to Praggnanandhaa’s already impressive list of accomplishments, including finishing fifth in the 2024 Candidates Tournament and becoming the youngest player to reach the Chess World Cup final in 2023.

Notably, this is not the first time Praggnanandhaa has defeated Magnus Carlsen. In April 2022, he secured his third consecutive victory against the world champion at the FTX Crypto Cup. Anand Mahindra, in awe of the young chess player’s talent, remarked that if chess is a Game of Thrones, there may soon be a new occupier of the throne.

Praggnanandhaa’s latest triumph has once again solidified his position as a rising star in the world of chess, with fans and admirers eagerly anticipating his future successes on the global stage.
