Ahmed Fareed Shines at Arab Chess Olympiad
Dubai Chess and Culture Club’s Ahmed Fareed has made headlines once again with his impressive performance at the first Arab Chess Olympiad in Morocco. Fareed finished second in the under 18 category, winning six straight games before narrowly losing to Egyptian Fide Master Adham Fawzy in the final round. Fawzy took home the gold, while Algeria’s Abderrahim Bouhadi claimed the bronze.
This achievement adds to Fareed’s already impressive resume, which includes a bronze medal in the under 16 category of the Arab Age Group Championships and a silver medal at the Asian Cities Chess Championship – Dubai Cup earlier this year. Fareed’s success at the Arab Chess Olympiad serves as a crucial preparation for his upcoming participation in the World Youth and Cadets Chess Championships in Greece.
Najid Saleh, head of the Technical Committee at the Dubai Chess & Culture Club, praised Fareed’s consistency and dedication to the sport, stating, “Ahmed Fareed has been one of the most consistent junior players of the UAE, having won several awards for the country in various international competitions. His impressive performance at the Arab Chess Olympiad sustains the momentum as he represents the country once again at the prestigious World Youth Championships in Greece this month.”
With the support of the Dubai Chess and Culture Club, Fareed and other young players are receiving the necessary training and exposure to excel in the sport and inspire the UAE’s sporting community. Fareed’s success at the Arab Chess Olympiad is a testament to his talent and hard work, setting the stage for even greater achievements in the future.
